Retainers
After your Invisalign treatment is complete, the maintenance portion of your orthodontic treatment will start. Maintenance means one thing: a retainer.
Following any type of orthodontic treatment the teeth will not be as firmly set in the surrounding tissues as they once were. To keep your teeth from shifting back out of position, you will have to wear a retainer.
To begin with you will probably have to wear your retainer full time. This gives your teeth an opportunity to settle into their new positions. However, over time you will be able to downgrade to part-time retainer wear. This may include wearing your retainer only at night, or on certain days in a week.
Regular Dental Checkups
You will need to continue visiting your dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups after your Invisalign treatment is complete. Of course, you won't have to attend the extra Invisalign-specific checkup appointments. That means that we’ll still be seeing you regularly, it just won’t be as frequently.
